Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is intensifying her rhetoric against Speaker of the House Mike Johnson as she attempts to block any further federal from being sent to Ukraine, but former Rep. Ken Buck is calling her out for her ‘irresponsible’ ways. In fact, he’s debuting a new nickname for MTG – Moscow Marjorie.

MTG Opposes New Federal Aid For Ukraine

If there’s one thing MTG doesn’t want right now, it’s for Ukraine to continue receiving federal aid from the United States. In a phone interview with CNN, she described another Ukraine aid package as ‘one of the most egregious things’ Speaker Johnson can do.

Her opposition comes at a crucial time. While Ukraine is asking for more support in its war against Russia, Speaker Johnson has tabled a bipartisan Senate package that would give them the aid they need – a package MTG is highly against.

Calling For Speaker Johnson To Be Removed

The thought of Ukraine receiving more aid from the US has MTG intensifying her calls for Speaker Johnson to be removed. It’s unclear how much support she has in that opposition, but her views have been brewing for several months now.

“We cannot get anyone more moderate than Mike Johnson. I would argue Mike Johnson, we can’t get any further left than Mike Johnson,” she said recently. “He is throwing our own razor-thin majority into chaos by not serving his own GOP conference that elected him”

MTG Getting Her Talking Points From Russia

On Monday (April 8), former Rep. Ken Buck discussed his thoughts on MTG in an interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett. He blasted MTG for getting her talking points from the Kremlin – talking points that he referred to as ‘false.’

“The Speaker is on the right side of history, and Marjorie is on the wrong side of history,” he said. “We know that Russia is propagating these false statements – narratives – about what’s going on in Ukraine. We know that she is getting her talking points from Russia.”

Ken Buck Supports Vote On Sending Money To Ukraine

Buck went on to praise Speaker Johnson for ensuring a bipartisan, unbiased vote on Ukrainian aid is presented to Congress – unlike MTG, who wants to table the motion before anyone has an opportunity to vote on it.

“Mike Johnson is doing the responsible thing by trying to make sure we get a vote on Ukraine funding – make sure the Ukrainian people can fight for their freedom,” Buck told CNN – adding that he thinks MTG will continue down this ‘false path’ that she’s on.

Says MTG Doesn’t Have A Lot Of Republican Support

While MTG intensifies her rhetoric, Buck suggests that many of her Republican colleagues aren’t ready to follow suit. He warns that some House and Senate Republicans will support her false views, but that number might be running thin right now.

I don’t think many Republicans are going to support her – there will be some,” Buck said on Monday. “I expect that the Democrats recognize this moment in history and the importance of being bipartisan in supporting Mike Johnson.”

MTG Suggests Speaker Johnson Is Being Blackmailed

In an effort to rile up her loyal supporters, Marjorie Taylor Greene went as far as suggesting that Speaker Johnson is being blackmailed – and that’s the only reason he’s delaying bringing more federal aid to a vote.

“Mike Johnson has made a complete departure of who he is, uhm, and what he stands for, and to the point where people are literally asking, ‘Is he being blackmailed?’ she said in an interview with Tucker Carlson – adding that the Speaker is completely disconnected from what Republicans want.

Buck Says MTG’s Rhetoric Is ‘Completely Irresponsible’

In his interview with CNN, Buck was asked if he takes MTG’s ‘blackmail’ theory seriously. His answer was short and to the point. “No, I think it’s irresponsible,” he said – likening it to the many other controversial statements she has made in her career.

“The idea that somehow the Speaker is corrupt because he believes that we should be supporting an ally that has been invaded by a war criminal, Vladimir Putin,” he said – describing it as just ‘another distraction’ from the ‘core arguments’ that are so important.

Kevin McCarthy Calls MTG A ‘Very Serious Legislator’

While many criticize MTG’s rhetoric and denounce it as un-American, some members of Congress—including former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, who was ousted from the role last year—praise her for her passion and experience.

“And the one thing I’ve always found about Marjorie is she’s a very serious legislator that deals with policy. And the best way to deal with anyone like that is sit down and talk to them,” McCarthy said in an interview with Fox News’s One Nation on Saturday.

Buck Calls MTG ‘Moscow Marjorie’

Buck was one of the handful of Republicans who voted for McCarthy’s removal last year, so it’s no surprise that he doesn’t agree with the former Speaker’s praise for MTG. In fact, Buck came up with a brand new nickname for MTG.

“She was always focused on her social media account,” he said. “And ‘Moscow Marjorie’ is focused now on this Ukraine issue and getting her talking points from the Kremlin, and making sure that she is popular and she is getting a lot of coverage.”

MTG Calls For ‘National Divorce’

Her viewpoints on Ukraine and Speaker Johnson are just the tip of the iceberg. Last year, she introduced a new idea that would essentially result in a ‘national divorce.’ The idea would see the United States ‘separate by red states and blue states.’

She later clarified that she wasn’t calling for secession or a civil war. Instead, she was calling for states to have more power in governing themselves. She’s basically saying we don’t need the federal government, and that each state should operate as its own.

Describes Jan. 6 Insurrection As A ‘Little Riot’

In 2022, MTG defended those who attended Donald Trump’s rally on January 6 – the one that resulted in roughly 2,000 people storming the US Capitol building. In fact, she stopped short of calling it an insurrection and, instead, called it a ‘little riot.’

“On one side of the Capitol, people were singing, they were praying. I mean it was, you know, amazing. Other side of the Capitol, yeah, there was a little riot going on,” she said – adding that the persecution of those rioters is a ‘political witch hunt.’

Admits The GOP’s Majority Has Been A Failure

On March 21, MTG took to her X account and denounced the work her Republican party has done over the past few years. “Our Republican majority is a complete failure,” she said of the slight majority Republicans have had in the House of Representatives.

“We have the power of the purse, which means we can control what the entire government does,” she said – adding that she is voting ‘NO’ to ‘funding the government that has created this invasion.’ The invasion she was talking about was the US-Mexico border.

Says Solar Eclipse Is Sign That Americans Should Repent

More recently, MTG took to X to claim that the recent solar eclipse is nothing more than a sign that Americans need to repent. Many people trashed her for her comment, which ignores all the science behind solar eclipses and other natural events.

“God is sending America strong signs to tell us to repent. Earthquakes and eclipses and many more things to come,” Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote on X. “I pray that our country listens.”
