NCAA Volleyball Player Speaks Out About Transgender Athletes

College volleyball player Macy Petty is taking a similar stance to Riley Gaines, criticizing the sports industry for not safeguarding female athletes from transgender male athletes that want to participate in female based sports.”There’s a lot of money in sports and these coaches, their jobs are dependent on them winning,” Macy Petty told “Varney & Co.” guest host David Asman on Monday.

Scholarship For Females 

“So, if there’s no rules from the NCAA saying that it has to be a female that occupies this female scholarship spot, then they’re going to go out and recruit whoever’s going to win.

Unfortunately, because of biological advantages, they’re going to go out and recruit men now.”

Concerns Mount 

Concerns are mounting as it has been reported by The University of Washington, a division 1 school,

Has decided to award a women’s volleyball scholarship to a 17 year old transgender athlete named Tate Dragset. 

Biological males

Riley Gaines, the former professional athlete who has been outwardly candid about the issue of allowing biological males to participate in women’s sports,

She accused Drageset of “stealing the already few opportunities for women at the collegiate level” in a heated X post last Wednesday.

Widespread Public Outcry

The university withdrew the scholarship after the widespread public outcry.  

Long-Term Injuries 

During the Monday segment, Asman brought attention to a case in California who has allegedly sustained long-term injuries,

This incident occurred after a transgender athlete spiked the ball and struck the female athlete.  

Lost Opportunities 

Petty, much like Gaines, is discouraged by what she sees as missed opportunities,

Combined with a huge list of other concerns such as the potential for physical harm as female athletes compete against opponents with biological advantages.

“It’s Heartbreaking” 

Petty replied, “It’s heartbreaking. We’re seeing it from coast to coast,” “Just last year, we saw something very similar in North Carolina.

This is very uncommon for volleyball, but this is what happens when you put men on the court with other female athletes.”
